Here are some of the points we may consider reviewing as part of an overall assessment of physical security and risk for a data centre site:
1. Site selection and Feasibily review
2. Redundancy of utilities
3. Buffer zone size around the site
4. Limitation of entry points.
5. Cameras: Thier location , storage, back up and types. Whether it be motion-detection devices, low-light cameras, pan-tilt-zoom or a combination together with standard fixed cameras.
6. Plan for secure air handling. Particularly for high security sites.
7. Use of two-factor authentication.
8. Hardened security layers. Anyone entering the most secure part of the data center should have have been authenticated at least three times, including:
a. At the outer door.
b. At the inner door. Separates visitor area from general employee area.
c. At the entrance to the "data" part of the data center.
